Nigella sativa, also known as habba sawda, black seed, corek otu yagi and black cumin, is an annual light blue plant.

Black seed has a strong bitter and aromatic taste. The (pressed) seeds are full of important fatty acids that our body needs. The history of the seed goes back to the ancient pharaohs who ruled over Egypt. These pharaohs used the seed for health-promoting reasons and even took it into their graves. It is also the seed that the Prophet Mohamed (peace be upon him) said about: "In this black seed there is healing for every disease except death"
