Who are we?

After a long search for pure and fresh black seed oil, I (Youssef) ended up in Egypt, where in mid-2013 I had 60 kilos of black seeds pressed. Back in the Netherlands, I started selling the oil on a small scale. I soon discovered that the oil is known under many names, including black seed oil, Nigella sativa oil (its Latin name), black cumin oil (not to be confused with regular cumin), habba sawda in Arabic, and corek otu yagi in Turkish. I was also surprised to see how high the demand was within the Islamic community, and certainly also outside it, due to the many benefits and virtues of the oil.
Given this demand, I started thinking about setting up my own business to import the oil. However, considering the distance to Egypt, import prices, and the risk of receiving poor-quality oil (diluted or heat-treated), I started looking for other possibilities. Ultimately, despite the high investments, I decided to set up my own pressing facility. This way, I can be sure that firstly, the oil is pure without any added diluents, and secondly, I can guarantee the quality, which greatly depends on how the seeds are pressed.
Large companies often press black seed oil at high temperatures and add various chemicals to optimise yield. Heating has several disadvantages, such as the loss of important components and beneficial substances. The chemical additives make the oil artificial and unnatural. To ensure that the oil remains pure and natural, I started pressing black seed oil myself in 2013.

Finally, I would like to end with a beautiful narration from Prophet Muhammad – peace and blessings be upon him. A narration close to our hearts that reminds us to work with honesty and integrity:
وفي رواية أخرى للحديث عند مسلم : من غشنا فليس منا
Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) passed by a pile of food. He put his hand into it and felt moisture with his fingers. He said: “What is this, O seller of the food?” The man said: “It was struck by rain, O Messenger of Allaah.” He said: “Why did you not put it on top of the food so that people could see it? Whoever deceives us is not one of us.” (Reported by Muslim)
In another narration by Muslim: “Whoever deceives us is not from us.”
Wishing you good health!
